Hi...been lurking for quite awhile...getting started on my project.....When looking over the files in the builder resources, I am having issues find software that will let me look at the files ( especially the .art files)...the software to create the files seems to have been discontinued and no longer supported. I can find replacements, but new to the CAD (2d and 3d) world and the plethora of options is overwhelming. What would be peoples software recommendations for a new user to read and use the files? Hey Jamie, I am glad you found us and hope you will be able to use the files once you are able to open them. Yes, the programs I use to create the drawings and G-code are old but they work fine for what we are doing. The ART files were created with ArtCam. The full version is pretty expensive but I do believe you can get a version of ArtCam that is less than $200. The main program you will need so you can see the master DXF files is a program that can read DXF and CAD. Most of all the new software programs are backwards compatible so you will be able to view drawings created with older software. Unfortunately, I can't give you an actual name brand or version number of something that I know for sure works but I will get you those answers over the next day or two. Standby.... After a bunch of research, the .art files can only be opened by artcam. There maybe a way, through artcam to save them to a different format. I am working on that for others if needed Hey Jamie, The CAM files are nice to have, but I have found that rarely I have had to go back into them to tweak anything. 99% of the time I create a new CAM file using the DXF drawing. From there, the CAM file creates the G-Code that actually runs to create the tool paths in Mach3. Do you have Mach3? And what CAM program do you currently have? Right now all I have is fusion 360....very new to the world of cad/cam.....so be awhile to get actually producing stuff as I muddle through the software aimlessly...lol. A buddy took the dxf for the MIP and glare and CNC plasma cut both out of 1/16" steel for me. Going to do the wood furniture next as the wooden stuff is easy for me ( full blown wood working shop at home). I think the hardest part will be the TQ as I have no real idea how the gates and detents work in the Lear...C130 no issue for all 8 levers as I have spent loads of time fly a military full motion cc130e/h with an upgraded glass cockpit..( dad was a sim instructor for years and I would help him run through lesson plans to make sure the faults would happen at the right time during sim down time)...but the Lear...can even find a video of the TQ going through the motions. Mine doesn't need to be exact, just a good facsimile. At the moment I might end up 3d printing a 737 set up to work with a saitek. Lots of stuff out there for that. not accurate, but gives the functions at least Right now all I have is fusion 360....very new to the world of cad/cam.....so be awhile to get actually producing stuff as I muddle through the software aimlessly...lol.
