Issues with Adding FSX Programs to P3D

(Original thread started on 04-22-15 by Shane Barnes)

I ran into an issue adding a couple of FSX programs to Prepar3D, they just would not work. I found a program that you can buy called Flightsim Estonia Migration tool. This program creates a "virtual" FSX so FSX programs can install into P3D. This worked for several of my programs but did not work for one of my favorite, Accu-Feel.

You get read about and get Flightsim Estonia Migration tool here:

Recently I added the following to my FS computer: simconnect_RTM.msi.

Mark Speechley had pointed me to this when we encountered a problem while working on the Arduino card that runs the Pressure Panel display. After I added the simconnect-RTM I was able to get Accu-Feel to install correctly. That was the only thing that changed so I think it was a simconnect issue.

I still have a couple of FSX programs that won't install but if you run into an issue you might try downloading the simconnect_RTM and see if that might help.

I was not as lucky. I added simconnect_RTM.msi to the Server-PC and attempted to install Accu-Feel via Estonia Migration. No joy. I tried it a few different times, restarting, insuring virtual FSX was running, trying different file locations, etc... still would not work.

When it comes to simconnect_RTM.msi, I simply down loaded it to the Server-PC. Does it need to be in a specific location? Does the .dll need to be placed somewhere special? This might be the issue.

Another thought. Do you think the lack of LINK2FS is a factor?

I know I will need it when I am ready to finish up with the pressure panel.

Man, there is nothing more frustrating than to click on the "addons" tab within P3D and see FSUIPC sitting there all by itself. (This is where the Accu-Feel tab should display to let you know that it is installed properly and available for use.)

No, LINK2FS will not be a factor as I have not downloaded it yet. I downloaded simconnect RTM to my main computer running P3D. Once it was downloaded I extracted the contents of the downloaded zip file and ran the installer. It should automatically place any files in the correct location.
