Adding Airports to the Jet45 Database

(Original thread started on 08-15-15 by Mark Speechley)

Can we add airports to the Jet45 database. I fly in PNG fairly often and a great runway is Kokoda AYKO which I would like to come up on the screen. So a demo of how to add that airport would be helpful.

In the EICAS/ MFD file in JET45, you should find a file named "accfg" and listed as configuration settings. Within that file you will find a section that looks like this [MIN_RUNWAY_LENGTH] and under that section you should see 4000. This is the default for JET45 I believe and will only show airports with runways that are 4000 feet in length or longer. I don't know if airports with shorter runways will show up if you change the setting to say 3000ft. Not sure if the airport you are talking about has a runway that is shorter than 4000. If so this might be a starting point.

Changing the runway from 4000' to a lower number did not work. Because of the short runway AYKO, I changed the number to 1000'. AYKO is in fact about 1300' and with some skills, you can actually stop.

So I assume in the MFD directory, it has a sub directory called "Data". In there you will find airport.txt. If you open that up you will find the information on what airports are included. Can we add any airports to that database? If so, what is the format?

I made a Flight plan AYPY AYKO which was made by P3D and again made in Flight Commander separately and both were happy. But when trying to load in the MFD if was visualized in the FP list but would not load as AYKO was not in the Jet45 database. If we can have the option of installing them into the database, (if they need to be), then it expands the abilities of the wonderful Jet45 even further!

Considering that the software was modeled after the real unit fairly closely, I'm not surprised that it's not working as easy as it seems it should for the airports under the 4000' rule, which is probably a Honeywell / Bombardier recommendation.

Per Jason, "If the airport is not in the database, [it can be added] manually. The format [is hopefully clear] in the airports.txt file". The new FMS software has these airports and he will update the MFD database. So in the short term you might have a go at updating them manually on your end until he pushes out the new database for MFD.
