Project Restart !

PreviousPage 2 of 2

Hi Terry,

Whilst you are at that stage just give some thought to the number or tension on the springs for the yoke.

When we next schedule a full stripdown we will surely increase the tension on the yokes.

Also give some thought to the height of the yoke column. You'll have it close to your specs but you'd be surprised at the different height of people who will come for a fly and trouble with the yoke hitting their thighs. I don't have the correct answer but of course your choice of seat really matters in determining the final length.

Just something for you to start musing about.

Thanks Mark.  I did spend some time on spring tensions previously, so hopefully I have it close to right.

BTW, I don't have the simulator in an ideal position so I will need to do a stripdown later this year !

Progress update - all my panels largely assembled and mounted.  Now the wiring begins !

Where possible I plan to use quick connect fittings on the backlit panels - with the aim of cutting down on direct soldering to AML switches, toggles etc

Progess to date

And just like that Terry, your project looks more put together than mine does!  Looks awesome and it's always exciting seeing new sims coming together.  (Or in this case an old sim being put back together)

Looks like you will meet your goal of having enough of your sim together to start flying before the end of the year.

That is awesome Terry. You are way further down the track than I thought.

I have sprouted on in this forum for years that you must now get it flying. It is a way to keep your enthusiasm going but a better way to test how some of your panels, yokes, pedals, throttles, etc are performing.

You also yearn for more modules to be up and going to help with the flying. Win win.

Keep at it.

Rebuild progress - June 2022Here's a progress photo of my rebuild as of a few months back...

Rebuild - July 2022Control columns attached !

Shortly after taking this photo I started removing panels to work on the wiring....

I received Ron's DU's last week and have now completed all the panel wiring as per the V2 documentation.

At last, I have the FGC panel completed !

The panel LED lighting isn't connected yet. The LED's look bright, but that's a camera effect - only 5 volts !
