Learjet45 in FS2020 Solutions

PreviousPage 6 of 6

This is indeed my concern; performance issues!
Also the physical option on a videocard to connect that many display's.
Fortunatly things like the Matrox Tripplehead still is available, so this would be an option.
But i do not know if these things help in performance ...

What i DO see is that PC resources do not increase much while running the popout manager software, so that's good news

For now i think my FS PC is maxed out with the 3 outside view screens.
I don't think adding more (with my current videocard isn't even possible) will bring poor performance.

Another thing is Wideview https://www.wideview.it/download.htm
I remembered this from the FSX days.
This software still is availble for MSFS2020 / 2024!!
You do need a second MSFS capable PC including a MSFS license!!
But this could be an option to run the popouts.

I agree this all is a good development worth following!

Hi guys

I have been playing around with the idea of the upcomming Lear45 availability for MSFS.
These days there is the option to popout displays out of the MSFS and use them on an extra monitor.
But this requires to be able to drag the popped out displays to a monitor attached to the FS PC.

So there are several options for this:

  • add extra monitors to the FS PC by adding a video card with at least 5 outputs
  • add extra monitors to the FS PC with a USB to HDMI splitter
  • add extra monitors to the FS PC with the use of software

Adding extra videocard can be complicated and will cost resources of the FS PC, but is an option

I have tried a usb to HDMI splitter , something like this:
USB 3.0 naar 4x HDMI Adapter, Externe Video & Grafische Kaart, USB Type-A naar Quad HDMI Display Ada
Works actually great.

Last option is a freeware software tool called SpaceDesk : spacedesk by datronicsoft
This is my favorite so far.
It has a server part what runs on the FS PC and client part what can run on a networked PC (or Ipad)!
Configuration is pretty easy, you can setup things like resolution, auto connect and autoconnect.
It does require one instance per monitor to run.
But you can copy the client sofware and rename it to something like spacedeskWindowsVIEWER1.exe, spacedeskWindowsVIEWER2.exe etc.

One catch was how to get the started spacedesk client to run on the required monitor...
I use an old tool "AutoHotKey" for this. AutoHotkey
You can make a script which can be compiled to an .exe which you can autorun.
This is an example of a script :

Run, "F:\Spacedesk\spacedeskWindowsVIEWER1.exe"
WinWaitActive, ahk_exe spacedeskWindowsVIEWER1.exe

; Wait a while
Sleep, 500

; Move to monitor 1 (Leftupper x=3440, y=0) and add resolution
WinMove, ahk_exe spacedeskWindowsVIEWER1.exe,, 3440, 0, 1920, 1080

; Maximize the app
WinMaximize, ahk_exe spacedeskWindowsVIEWER1.exe

Run, "F:\Spacedesk\spacedeskWindowsVIEWER2.exe"
WinWaitActive, ahk_exe spacedeskWindowsVIEWER2.exe

; Wait a while
Sleep, 500

; Move to monitor 2 (Leftupper x=0, y=0) and add resolution
WinMove, ahk_exe spacedeskWindowsVIEWER2.exe,, 0, 0, 3440, 1440

; Maximize
WinMaximize, ahk_exe spacedeskWindowsVIEWER2.exe

I use my second PC where my monitors are attached and Airmanager is installed.
This is where the Spacedesk clients run.
But these add monitors to the FS PC.
So here i have besides my 3 physical 65" screen 5 extra monitors!!

The use of the popout manager is pretty well documented in a lot of youtube video's and available
GitHub - hawkeye-stan/msfs-popout-panel-manager: Pop out panel manager for MSFS 2020

With all this i can now pop out displays to my second PC and show on a monitor over there.
I don't see any framerate drops on my FS PC , and i am amazed this costs very little resources of the FS PC

Here is a little video of all this.

If you guys have any questions , let me know.
Now , it is waiting for the Just FLight lear45!

Thank you Roel,

That is pushing the options further for us.

Great find and sharing.

Wow Roel,

This is a lot of information to take in and it looks like just about anything will be possible with the new Just Flight Lear45 in conjunction with all this newly discovered technology.  Having the option to pop out the displays will be a game changer.  We have to keep our fingers crossed that Just Flight stays on task with the development of the new Lear45 Professional.  It would be nice to see it around Christmas later this year.

Roel, it's good you are looking into some of these tools  and solutions to make the new Lear45 work with your AM solutions.  Thank you for sharing your findings with us!  It sounds like it's going to be a very smooth transition for you being able to pop out their built in Just Flight avionics displays.

I have been trying to read the tea leaves on the development progress of the Lear45 because as you all may know, they have not put out any official statements since January 2025.  However, one thing I have noticed is they are using an image of the Lear45 for the face of their development page and have the Lear45 listed as first in a line of "under development" projects.  This is very good news for us!  I think they are seeing a lot of excitement for the Lear45 and are expediting it's development.

Another area I am curious about is the Just Flight UNS-1 FMS software they have developed for their 146 Professional and the future Lear45 Professional.  Have you seen this yet Jason?  It looks like it's put together very well but I am not sure if we are able to modify the flight plans on the fly or not.  Dual FMS mode is also questionable.  It looks like it's geared for vertical navigation but as of now, only the 146 Professional is using the UNS-1 and it does not use VNV.

Here is their UNS-1 tutorial?  It's been out for about a year now.

In either case, it looks like Just Flight is really trying to take their "Professional" products to the next level which is great for all of us.  After all, this is what we have all been waiting for right?   This should make it easy for Jason to tap into some of these additional features within the FMS software and the avionics software as well.  I am really curious as to how en depth their electrical system will be modeled.  Exciting times!

Roel, I really like your "hangar screen saver" photo.  Where did you get that?  I need to find one but would love to be able to stretch it across my three outside displays for times where I am just working on the sim or showing off the progress to friends and family without running the MSFS/P3D sim in the background.

Again, awesome research and findings Roel!

After testing how to get a popout to the correct monitor i was busy getting the Just Flight UNS-1 up and running.  For this i purchased the Just Flight 146 Professional for MSFS.  The 146 also has a UNS-1 .

For my self made software i interfaced and programmed the UNS-1 with AirManager LUA.
This was a lot of work and still it is not fully operational.

So one main goal was to use the UNS-1 as programmed by Just Flight and pop this out to the UNS-1 hardware monitor in my sim.  I went from 11,000 lines of code to just 300 in my script now for the UNS-1.

But interfacing this is different ; in AM there are no commands to push a specific UNS-1 button, so the only option is to use LVAR's
This was new for me, i only use them now to read TCAS info.
LVAR is a bit messy in the 146 from Just Flight, but i managed to get a working script to interface.

Here is a little video:

So whenever the Lear45 from Just Flight will be available i am ready !

Hey Roel,

This is very interesting and exciting information!  This is very cool that you are able to get ahead of the curve and start testing the Just Flight UNS-1 using the 146 Professional.  Does it appear to be every bit of a "Study Level" aircraft as they advertise it to be?

It looks like the first waypoint location, EHEN (Eindhoven Airport in the Netherlands) prefills based on the GPS location during the initialization process just as it should.  Very nice,

One thing that several of us are curious about is if you are able to change a flight plan after it has been created and you are en route.  Have you been able to investigate this yet?

Also, it was hard to tell from your video due to glare, but how responsive are the button presses compared to your own UNS-1 software you created using AM?  From the video, it looks like some of the key presses had to be pressed more than once to register while other key presses appeared to register on the first press.

Thanks for spearheading the research into the Just Flight Lear45 and what is potentially possible.

Well the automatic fill of departure airport is not like documented in the UNS-1 manual; i had to enter it manual.
The response of pressing a key and some action is good!
It is the same as with Jet45 or AM.

I just took a quick course in flying the 146...
Taking off was hard, but this was because the elvator is locked by default in MSFS .
So after figuring out how LNAV and TMS works in the 146 i was able to fly a flightplan.
And, indeed, you can enter a DTO while flying.

So UNS-1 from JustFlight seems to be ok
