Learjet45 in FS2020 Solutions

PreviousPage 4 of 6Next

Thanks Roel!

I just watched a demo video of it and it looks great.  Definitely a nice option for guys that want to fly something different in the business jet department.

Unfortunately, it doesn't help us with moving closer to having a solution for the Lear45 other than reminding sim enthusiast and developers that there is a complete line Learjet models out there that have yet to be modeled.  So this is a really good thing!

I remember several years ago a couple of us purchased the Lear35 for FSX and the only thing we were able to use from it to enhance our Lear45 projects was parts of the sound files.  If memory serves correctly, the engine sound was an improvement over the stock FSX engine sound.

But as you said, we finally have a Lear to fly in MSFS2020 and that in itself is exciting to see.  Lets hope that the Lear75 that is under development is modeled as well as this Lear35!

Hey guys,

Quick update on the Learjet75 model for MSFS2020.  The 3D modeling is just about complete according to Brady and soon he will be turning it over to the guys that handle flight and systems modeling.

Here are a couple screen shots of the 3D work Brady has been doing.

Thanks for all your dedicated hard work Brady!

Another update soon.

Hey guys,  Brady with Simsolutions just held a livery competition for the up and coming Lear75 that he is developing.

The winner is !

Beautiful work!  This will be the official livery of the Simsolutions Lear75.  There will be several others to choose from and the ability to customize the livery one way or the other.

In other news, the graphical modeling is just about complete.  Brady is currently working on moving and removable components.  When we think of "moving components", we think of the obvious ones first like the gear, flaps, ailerons, rudder and stabilizer.  Brady is now putting the final touches on the cabin door, nose cone, over wing emergency exit and things like the lavatory door.  I know some of these things are a little "extra" but we would rather see him go too far than not far enough.

And as always, I have to throw this line in there, anything Brady does for the Lear75 he is also doing for the Lear45!

Last bit of good news, his DA20 aircraft has been tested thoroughly in MSFS2024 and all systems are go.  This means we should expect the up and coming Lear75 model to also be 100% compatible with 2024.

Excited for some Learjet footprints MSFS. I’m currently chewing through Learjet 35A but looking forward to see 75 but mainly 45 is a goal to stick with.

MSFS 2020 is at good point at this moment. Many smart people contributed to make it really good experience. 2024 tho… can’t say. Seems like it’s aimed towards console users and its cloud structure appears to many somewhat troublesome.

Can’t wait for Jason to complete the software part.

I agree on the msfs2024 , i hear very negative things about it.
only one way to find out i guess…buy and try 😀

Hey guys,

I actually purchased the premium version of MSFS2024 for my Xbox a couple weeks ago.  Flying with Xbox is the only way I trust myself to fly a little and not get distracted away from the major build project.

My experience so far with 2024?  I started out with a flight over Jacksonville out of NAS JAX, my old Navy base.  The first thing I noticed is the I-295 bridge that crosses over the St. John river was a mess, half under water and highway lines not matching up properly with satellite photography.  See photos:

This is MSFS 2024:

And this is MSFS2020:

So bridges over bodies of water in areas outside of places they have created custom scenery for are still an issue.  But what I find more concerning is that the scenery area generating out in front of the aircraft, in 2024, the generation line seems to be much closer.  If you look at the scenery in the distance, it's not yet generated compared to what you see in 2020.

Mind you, both of these sims, 2020 and 2024 are being ran straight out of the box with no setting adjustments.

Here is another snap shot in 2024 on the way to my home.  You can see that the scenery generating in the distance has not yet come in although it's clearly within sight.  (I could have taken better photos illustrating this point but was not quick enough with the camera.)

This is 2020 and you can see the scenery has generated a great distance further, nearly as far as visibility allows.

And this is 2024 attempting to fly over my home.  My house is not quite in the picture but the point with this photo is take a look at the homes, they appear to be half buried, with not a lot of detail.  And take a look at the trees in the creek area.  They look more like funny shapes.

And this is 2020.  The homes look like they have more detail and they are above ground.  The trees in the wetlands are still not in the form of tress, but not nearly as bad as what I am seeing in 2024.

For the record, I have not tweaked the first setting in either sim, these test flights are done straight out of the "box".  My findings are that the default 2020 scenery looks far better than the default 2024.  You would think that the latest and greatest product would have improved.  But I think this mostly is due to the majority of the scenery being stored "in the cloud" and requires rendering in real time.

With that said, I bet a lot of what I am seeing boils down to settings and the speed of my internet provider.  If I were to dig down into my settings, I would probably find that the scenery distance rendering needs to be bumped up a couple notches to match what I am seeing in 2020.  And the scenery mesh needs to be adjust to a higher setting also.

Additionally, I am currently using an internet service package that streams in one of the lowest amounts of data which may also have an big effect on the way the 2024 sim appears.  There may be internal settings in the 2024 sim that if it detects it can only stream at a certain speed, then it automatically moves scenery generating settings to match what the data speed is capable of handling.  That's my guess anyway.

Now on the flip side, I have flown custom designed scenery like Rio Brazil and Edinburgh Scotland.  Those areas are squared away and look just as good if not better than what I am seeing in 2020.

I am going to chalk what I am seeing up to three things:

  1. It's a new sim with tons of bugs.  (That's normal and things will get sorted with time)
  2. It's several settings that need to be adjusted.  (I need to play around with the settings)
  3. It's my currently slow internet speed.  (I will eventually move to a faster internet package)

The cool thing is the Lear75 that Brady is working on is going to work in both 2020 and 2024, that has been confirmed.

Another sneak peek at the up and coming Lear75!

Hi Ron

Did you ever use google maps in stead of the default bing map?
Not sure if this is possible on the XBox, but on the pc there is a tool: MSFS Map Enhancement for Microsoft Flight Simulator | MSFS
You can select several map engines.

I have to say, MSFS looks fantastic, but for my area (Europe) ORBX has the True Earth addons for P3D
These addons are very accurate in the landscapes, much better then the default MSFS scenery.
For MSFS ORBX has also map enhancements, but i haven't seen these yet.

Yep Roel, in my experience as long as you source the right upgrade scenery for P3d it will look better than some areas in 2020 and 2024. You just can't beat the look of MSFS straight out of the box without porchasing anything else.

What Coop and I are specialising in is dusk and night flying in P3D using a projector setup. We have developed a sytem whereby we can darken the 'blends' between projectors. This will work the same for MSFS for anyone exploring the projector route. We will share the method when we are a bit free timewise.

Flying at dusk is my favourite and really shows there is still mileage in P3D whilst we are waiting for a more permanent solution in 2024.

BREAKING NEWS!

Just Flight has announced it's starting development of the LJ45 "Professional"

See news link HERE

It was a year ago almost to the day that MSFS 2024 was announced and we were hoping that it would include a default Lear45.  Well as we know now, that did not happen.  Take a look at the options I laid out for us at the time.

(Posted on December 17th 2023)

Here are our options in order of most favorable to least favorable:

  • Option #1: A stock version of the Lear45 is included in the new upcoming FS2024!
  • Option #2: A company develops a professional Lear45 add-on for FS2020/FS2024.  WINNER!
  • Option #3: One of us develops a Lear45 model based on the default CJ4 within FS2020.
  • Option #4: "Hybrid"  P3D to model the Lear45 and FS2020 to model the outside world.

Funny how I spelled out what our options were a year ago and low and behold, Option #2 appears to be coming true right down to the name of their product, "Professional".

This is actually the absolute best option for us, even better than the Lear45 being a default aircraft in 2024.  If this materializes as we expect and hope, our Lear45s will be as close to a "Study Level" sim as possible.

FINALLY, someone besides our Hangar community has recognized the Lear45 is worthy not just to develop but go extra steps in creating in-depth systems.  Now it looks like we won't have to worry about modeling electrical loads, bleed air systems, pressurization systems, etc..

All I ask of you guys is if you come across a post in a forum boasting about this new product by Just Flight, take a second to "Like" it or a minute to comment on it to show your support.  The last thing we want to see is this project getting cancelled due to lack of interest.

I will keep an eye out on the progress and will post the updates here as soon as I get them.

In the meantime, here's a short video of Just Flight's RJ Professional which should have similar qualities as what the future LJ45 will have.

Merry Christmas to us and Happy New Year!

Yes finally !
JustFlight has a facebook page, on this they ask about this addition to their add-ons.
I think we all should respond , the more likes the better and quicker it is released i recon.
