Flight Line Simulation Panel Development

(Original thread started on 02-28-11 by Eric Tomlin)

After months of R&D, I'm proud to finally show off here at the Hangar some of the products that are being made by myself, aka "Flight Level Simulations".

Very near to release to full production is the LJ45 Electrical Panel. Back lighting has taken the most time to perfect and I'm very pleased with the result and there may even be some more enhancements made over the next little while before shipping to the 5 who have ordered so far:

Not far behind are the remainder of the lower panels, as seen here, in development and the expected time on these is far less than the Electrical panel since the R&D applies to them the same as for the Electrical panel:

Also you can see the 2 pack of Reversion Panels, also nearing completion:

Features of these panels include:

* Full scale front panel with backer painted to match

* Laser engraved front panel with 5v LEL (LED Embedded Lighting)

* Compatible with Tom's LJ45 MIP/Glare shield (which was designed by myself and Ron)

* Compatible with all of Ron's hardware

Awesome work Eric. Really fantastic looking. If I was still a Lear builder I would hang up my CNC and just source them all from you. At last someone who can finally build these and supply them in the US. You have come a long long way my friend. And for anyone newer who doesn't know the history of what Eric started doing a long long time ago and how far he has come to get to this point I can only say if you are a Lear builder you just have to show a lot of appreciation for what Eric has done for your community and I wish him all the luck in future endeavors. Ladies and gentleman....a new panel builder has entered the house!!!

Congratulations Eric and to all of you Lear builders who finally have someone to source all these panels from.

Wow Scott, thanks- that means a lot and is very encouraging and while it is more work than anyone who's ever done it can imagine, it's worth it in the end.

Hangar45 was created by the builders, for the builders, and although I am deeply connected to the aircraft and its presence on the web for sim builders, it would never have gotten to the point that it has without Ron and I meeting up several years ago and working together to promote the airframe like we have. The ever rising popularity of the LJ45 is what makes this panel supply doable for the few that have taken it on in one form or another. Then we have Jason- if it weren't for all his hard work and listening to me go on and on about how we need to tweak this or "can we add this?", the LJ45 would be basically dead to me. The software really makes all the hardware development worth while.

It's not easy going from simply being "Sim builder/friend" to "Sim builder/Vendor" because you inevitably make some folks upset for one reason or another once you enter that commercial en devour phase, but it is what it is. I'd like to thank all of you that have been a support for me as well as those who've emailed and placed an order. I want to be very careful about taking on too much work, so at this time if anyone is interested in an Electrical panel, I have 1 slot left so please email me to let me know that you want one. Once these are delivered, I'm moving on to the next lower panel.

Now that DonnyRay has his panel and the others will be getting theirs very soon, I decided to show some updated photos of the finalized L45ELEC product.

Shown here, a real LJ45 panel on the left, the FLS Electrical Panel with "True Tone" LED, and a pure cold-white LED FLS Electrical Panel, which is pretty, but not being made now due to the advantages of the color treatment that brings the look in-line with the real incandescent panels:

Shown here, the Flight Deck Solutions knob along with an AML21 push button switch outfitted with Project 45's 389 Replica Kit:

Shown here, the fully integrated LEL in the rear of the panel:

Some updates to show the newest products coming from myself, Flight Level Simulations. These panels are nearly ready to be shipped and only require a little more tweaking before hitting production.

Engine Start Panel:

APU Light Panel:

Pressurization Panel:

Currently several orders have been placed for all three of these and I will be getting close to a first run production number. If you are interested, please let me know.

I know that most folks here already have their panels or are on the list and are waiting. I am getting ready to start a batch of panels for two customers and because there are so many of them for one project, I will be making an extra set in addition to the two I'm already building for. If you want to secure your place in line, now is the time as my availability to get them made and out the door gets narrower each year with family, ministry, and life.

If you are wanting a set of GEN2 T7 (LED integral backlighting panels) then let me know asap as I'm getting setup now for the new year:

Hi Marco! Yes, I have you down for two Audio Control Panels mate.

Merry Christmas to you folks as well!

I think Eric is going to be busy! I've ordered two audio panels as well and he is working on another Trim panel for me. I had a guest over a month or so ago and he put his knee thru my trim panel as he was getting in the sim. Thankfully it was a small panel like the trim and not the engine start panel with all those switches! I think we need to develop a center pedestal protective cover to protect our investments, something like this one developed for Gulfstream center pedestals made of polycarbonate.

It would be nice to have a cover that could protect the pedestal as we get in and out and one that is easily removed once seated in the flight deck. If you start thinking about the time and money we have invested in the panels it makes sense. I was lucky and only lost one panel.

Hey everyone. Just a small update- Because my site has been down forever it seems and I do not have time right now to rebuild it the way I want to, I set up a quick and dirty Facebook page. This is really more than anything to serve as a point of contact for new folks. If you know someone that is needing to contact me, here's another channel.
