Hi fellow builders, I noticed a post on Facebook that people cannot access the Prepar3d Website. I have just tried to access it and correct at time of typing, it says General Error. To my knowledge I have not seen any warning that the website would be down for maintenance, hence, if not returning in a few more days it could mean the demise of P3D. We are all waiting for the release of Lear45 for MSFS. In the meantime I know Jet45 works well in P3D so any of you that still have a copy, DO NOT delete it. In order to functionally test Jet45 you may still need it. We may require Jason's opinion on this matter regarding this transition time for Jet45 testing. I am using P3D V5.4 so I have no advice for V4 or V6 functionality. Cheers everyone. Mark S. Hi fellow builders, I noticed a post on Facebook that people cannot access the Prepar3d Website. Back to the Hangar. Mark S. Just checked now and seems to be back online. Phew that was close. Call it a test run ! Back to the Hangar. Mark S. Hey Mark, I bet that was a scary moment! Glad the site is back up and running. I might have said this in a general email to everyone but I will say it here, for now, I plan to purchase and use P3D V5.4, the same as you so we can properly test Jet45 and compare apples to apples. If the music stopped and we had to choose something today for the foreseeable future, P3D V5.4 is what we would move forward with for two reasons: Speaking of the music stopping, I am in a holding pattern right now waiting for several items to be delivered. Some of these items were suppose to be here a week ago. Our USPS says they are "in transient and running late". One particular item has been in transient for over five days from the Jacksonville distribution center to the local Jacksonville branch post office down the street. Will the USPS ever get it's crap together? Probably not. The good news is I don't have a shortage of things to do but I would like to finish up on the things that are front and center in my mind. So hopefully these items will arrive soon so I can continue to move forward with the setup! Hey Mark, I bet that was a scary moment! Glad the site is back up and running. I am flying a Citation Mustang with Garmin G1000. I have RealSimGear hardware and Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo as well as Steam Deck buttons. My hardware is connected by SPAD.neXt. I have tried both Sims and there are so many problems I've decided to go to Prepar3D V4. I installed new graphics cards in 2 machines and both MSFSs crashed. 2020 after a month running smoothly. But there are also other problems: MSFS 2020 1. No matter how much time one takes, marrying up displays with different monitors is a major problem. 2. Popout of instrument screens are limited. 3. Panels popped to tablets (e.g. ATC, Checkists) have to be aligned each flight. 4. The main issue is lack of stability, reliability and the technician lack of how to human interface. Crashes and load time is slow. MSFS 2024 Many of the same issues as above except multi-monitor support is unusable. Screenshots rotate while trying to align. The multi-screens are also forced into an external view (no cockpit view). As I said, I'm returning to P3D. Just purchased Megascenery all of USA for $99. With that, it rivals MSFS scenery. Hi Dave, Good information and thank you for sharing this with us. Your sim looks great by the way. I took your photo and added it to our Hangar45 photo library to make it easier for others to see. Tomorrow I will be building up my Server-PC which will be a i9 using Windows 11 and running P3D v5.2. For us Lear45 builders, we have no choice at this moment in time but to go with P3D until Just Flight releases their Ler45 Professional aircraft for MSFS. It is a little disconcerting that you are having so many issues with both of the MSFS simulators, especially with the expanded sim setup you are using, meaning multiple visuals like we are planning to use. I am personally not in a position to be able to test MSFS2020 or 2024 at this moment so I can't add to this one way or the other than to hope that there are ways to address all these issues you are seeing. My thoughts are there has to be a way to correct these issues, one problem at a time. But if nothing else, your experience shows it's not as simple as turning the computer on, setting things up and off you go. Please keep us posted with your findings with both P3D and MSFS. You input and findings are very helpful! Hi Dave, Good information and thank you for sharing this with us. Your sim looks great by the way. Hey Dave I also have been testing with MSFS2024 . https://hangar45.net/hangar-45-forum/topic/lear45-in-fs2020-troubleshooting/?part=6#postid-2179 It did take some tooling, but after setting it all up screens popped out correct on the right place. Thanks Roel, I didn't communicate well. I was trying to describe the "Render Windows" function in MSFS 2020 & 24. The external views out the cockpit. Like you, I use TVs for external views (I have 5). There are a total of 11 monitors on 2 PCs. Each PC has an RTX 5060 12G with 4 ports. One TV and 2 tablets are connected to the main PC via SpaceDesk. Works great. In the attached photo, from left to right: Left Cockpit - PC1 SpacedDesk, Left Center Cockpit - PC2 HDMI, Center Cockpit - PC2 HDMI, Right Center Cockpit - PC2 HDMI, Right Cockpit - PC1 HDMI. Both PCs connected via WideView. The issue I have is using Render Windows in 2024 with the Left and Right Center monitors. Can't do it. The Render Window function in 2024 is unusable. Had to stretch from the Center to the right and left. Can do it in MSFS 2020 but can't get alignment correctly on Left and Right Center. The Left and Right Cockpit monitors are aligned but cannot exactly match the front 3 monitors. Although both PCs are using the same camera files, MSFS doesn't align. Very disappointed. The Windows functions in FSX and P3D work much better. It's the external views that are problematic. I know some of you have projectors front, left and right. Roel, I may remember you have 3 large TVs. If someone discovers how to align external views, please let me know. I'm disappointed with MSFS. Ground and cloud detail is really great but alignment is difficult. I would go back to P3D but I have $2K worth of G1000 hardware that doesn't support P3D. Thanks Roel, I didn't communicate well. I still use the p3d , since I am waiting on the Just Flight Lear 45.
But my tests were pretty good on the popout option.
