Jet45 AAS Stutters and Erratic Behaviors

(Original thread started on 01-29-11 by Eric Williams)

Purchased the Jet45 full version this morning. Loved the demo, loving the full version thus far and looking forward to the Jet45 FMS software!

I ran into some issues with speed not registering during takeoff (even with the demo before) and erratic stuttering during normal cruise. It has now carried over to multiple systems during flight. In cruise flight, if I kick in some rudder it will trigger the event. Returning to a constant heading relieves it will (sometimes) correct itself and the erratic behavior on the MFD will go away. It seems as if it is a connection issue between the FSX computer and the Jet45 PC but I'm open to any ideas.

Test setup is FSX PC connected to DLINK DIR655 Router, Jet45 PC also connected to router.

FSX PC running Windows 7, Jet45 running XP. Networked via workgroup.

Net Framework verified at 3.5.1

I've seen that before, but can't exactly what it was. Networked via workgroup has nothing to do with it really, though you want the systems in the same group. FSUIPC is the communication protocol, I would make sure you have the latest version of FSUIPC and WideFS installed. You may want to also double check that you have each .ini file for the DU's correct. I had one parameter wrong and caused some weird things.

I reinstalled Net Framework on the Instruments PC, re examined and edited the ini files and took another flight. I thought I had won but same deal once up to 19000 ft. It seemed to start as soon as I began to descend. Odd since I was over rural Ontario which has zero going on for frame killers.

Some of my settings are: Rex Overdirve real time weather, UTX, all road traffic turned off , airline traffic less than 50%, Autogen at Dense. Pretty mellow overall.

FSUIPC and WideFS are freshly downloaded. Any ideas?

Thank you for purchasing Jet45. This is indeed a very strange issue you seem to be having. I am seeing that some of the values on the EICAS are alternating from normal numbers to very large numbers. This tells me that something is happening between FSX and jet45. The software will display the values as it receives them. So I am leaning towards something going on with the network.

Here is something to try. Install Jet45 on the same PC as you are running FSX. If the problem doesn't repeat, then that leads us to a possible network/FSUIPC/WideFS issue.

Not sure what you have for a network configuration, but are both PC's plugged into the same switch/router? What's the network speed of your network cards? I have 1gb network cards in each connected to the same switch and I make sure that any other PC communicating that I attach goes into the same switch.

Eric, I've seen this before also on my setup several times. It has nothing to do with location or airports.  Sometimes I reboot and it goes away, but you may have to reinstall your video drivers. I was experimenting with different drivers and that's when I first saw the same thing. I would just try reinstalling your same driver and see if that works. If that doesn't work try a different driver. Hope this helps.

Have you tried changing the Wideclient process priority to "Above Normal".

I used to find P8R a bit jittery and this cured it for me. Worth a try.

Wow thanks for all the great ideas. With regard to setup, I have no interfaces into the instrument PC but my FSX rig does have some Saitek panels interfaced via the 3rd party SPAD drivers.

I tried increasing the priority as Dave said with no change.

I did a windows update and found I needed a service pack for Net Framework still. I did that update and also searched for the latest Nvidia drivers for the MX440 in this PC- there was a different package than what I currently had. It now has a sys tray icon which I did not before (it was hidden in properties menu)

I cannot re-create the stutters now, but have only tried one flight. I'm hoping that's all it took. I will be on holidays for a week so will have to put it through it's paces again later. I'm fairly certain the display looks better as well. I appreciate all the ideas and help!

UPDATE:

I took a couple more flights after installing the new video driver and have yet been unable to re-create the stutters. I pushed it fairly hard with higher settings and some rapid direction changes etc with no issues. I am hopeful it is solved. The problem was definitely not the software but something on my system, but the feedback on places to begin are very helpful.
