FS2020

PreviousPage 5 of 6Next

Hi everyone,

In case no one else has picked this up, MSFS 2020 is looking great for us in the short term. Basically a beta at the moment is displaying multiple screens AND has a menu setting for Home Cockpit builders to remove the instrument panel view. Fantastic news as technically as long as you don't want to look at an external  camera view of a Learjet 45, we will be all good to go. Just need to finish up the Jet45 V2 panel and software testing and things are 'definitely looking up ! ', on proviso from Ron and Jason of course.

There is no documentation at the moment but this guy in the video basically worked it out. I have Fly Elise Immersive Display as my warping software and they have been ready for MSFS for quite awhile so should be an easy transition, if you want someone else to do the work.

Enjoy the upcoming future.

Mark S.

Hey Mark

Yes I noticed this video as well on facebook.
Finally!!
I did not notice the outside view option without instruments has also been available??!
If so then I also might switch to MSFS.

Outstanding news!  Thanks for posting this Mark.

I watched the video and Russ Balow, the guys who made the video pointed out that there is a button in the set up tabs that enables the end user to remove the virtual cockpit view, leaving only the outside environmental view behind, although it is not yet working.  This feature is being implemented specifically for home cockpit builders like us.

I figured it was only a matter of time before Asobo Studios / MSFS developed multiple views in order to compete with P3D and XPlane.  This is only a Beta version so what you see will only get better from here!

It will be interesting to see if they also develop warping software within the sim for curved projection screens or if that is something that we will still have to sort out on our own.  Worse case we can handle that with FlyElise software so no big deal there.  Getting exciting!

I have installed the beta version of MSFS; indeed multiple monitor option is available and functioning!!
There still is no option about the outside view without panel (beside the zoom option which i do not like)

But...i just read in a forum that asobo the aircraft cfg files no longer encrypts!!!
And this is indeed the case!!
So when editing , in my case i have tested this by removing interior and exterior xml files from the King Air aircraft: %localappdata%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore\asobo-aircraft-kingair350\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_KingAir350\model

I have a clean outside view!

This is outstanding news Roel!  This is a big check mark we can now make on the short list of things we NEED working in the new MSFS in order for us full scale home cockpit builders to feel comfortable migrating over.

The only other MUST HAVE now is a working Lear45 model.  We had some early success with porting over the FSX Lear45 model and that worked with the exception of the internal cockpit views, but we do not need them.

If memory serves correctly, the guys that were working on porting over the old FSX Lear45 model got frustrated because every time MSFS did an update, it would scrub clean all the work put into the Lear45 model.  Maybe that has changed and we can give it another go?

I confirmed the Learjet45 imported model also does not get bothered by Asobo anymore.  Removing the exterior and interior stuff in model.cfg of my imported Lear45 also gives a nice clean outside view!

[model.options]
withExterior_showInterior=false
withExterior_showInterior_hideFirstLod=false
withInterior_forceFirstLod=false
withInterior_showExterior=false

If you don't have the option "home cockpit builders"enabled you can look  around with the mouse 🙂

I think I can go and modify my Airmanager coding (not always entered the MSFS subscriptions) and am good to go !

Hi Roel,

Did you use the legacy aircraft import tool on the FSX Learjet?  For some time there was a model someone modified to load into FS2020, but the file is no longer on the download site.

Jason Hite FlightDeckSoft

Hey Jason

Emm , yes i did use before the importer tool to import a legacy fsx model.
I know using the model available was no great succes, and is indeed no longer available.
I am not sure if you still need the importer tool, the lear which i modified still was present in my FS2020.
But i think you still need the tool.

Hi guys,

There are two different models, the old original FSX Learjet and the newer 64 bit Learjet Version. I have tried two tools on both versions with the latest beta version of MSFS and only one came up as a plane choice but all crashed to desktop when installed in the Community folder.

There were details that needed to be corrected which may have made it more stable. I just went default to test out.

Mark S.

I previously imported the default FSX Lear 45 into MSFS , this seems to be ok.
Also after editting model.cfg
I will try to import other ones also
