L45-007 V2.0 Project Updates!

PreviousPage 2 of 2

Tonight, I started the process of assembling the sim instead of disassembly! It seems forever since I had the sim up and running but hopefully this coming year it will be back in service.  I spent some time adjusting the control column/yokes and adding the floor sections around the rudder pedals.

Updates on the MIP tower were completed today as well.  I added in a kit from Ron that will support the addition of two nine-inch screens that will provide the graphics for the RMU's and standby gauges. Next comes the testing of all LCD screens as they have been out of service for quite some time.

Looking good Shane!  That column crossover looks incredibly strong, no flex there.

I see a couple things you have done that I haven't done.  You have side support for the carpet where it ramps up,  I can see where this would be needed.  I may have to add this as well.  The other thing I have wondered if I need to do is add carpet up the sides where the seats will sit.  I know it's a solid piece of carpet but thinking of making side skirts that sit under the book shelves that can be removed without removing the main raised deck.

It's good to see your sim being put back together with all the updates!  It shouldn't be long now and you will have the MIP and panels back in.  Then all that's left is wiring up a couple harnesses. LOL

To catch up from a couple weeks ago, a snow and ice storm kept me at home a few days and this allowed me to catch up on some sim chores.  I was preparing to test the MIP LCD screens that provide visuals for DU's 1 thru 4 and the new 9-inch LCD screens for the RMU's and Standby gauges.  Thankfully, all are functioning and ready to be installed after sitting on a shelf for several years.

Speaking of sim chores, I spent two evenings sorting thru all the sim parts to see what I can salvage to go back into the version 2 build.  It's like trying to run a small warehouse in my sim room.

I've also prepped and painted the center pedestal getting it ready to be reinstalled and I've applied dry transfer lettering to the MIP. The dry transfer lettering will identify the reset buttons for the Arduino's. These will be hidden from view under the weights plate on the pilot's side.

As you can see in the photo below, I have temporarily placed the MIP on the MIP tower with screens installed to ensure all fits as it should.  Brackets were added to F3 bulkhead to secure the MIP Tower to F3.  I've also added in the painted center pedestal.

Additionally, I added six switches to the lower swing out panel in the avionics bay. Ron added the switches in for maintenance/testing purposes to allow the builder to switch power on/off to the ESS/ NON-ESS BUS and the HOT BUS.  You can see the toggle switches mounted under the 12v power supplies.
