Hey guys, This is something I have been wanting to get around to and finally made some time for it, the paper certificates and certificate pocket or frame that mounts on the bulkhead behind the captain's seat. Here is an example of that. There are actually two certificates that should be kept here, the Certificate of Aircraft Registration and the Standard Airworthiness Certificate. I don't think anything else is kept in this pocket but these two documents I know for sure. If someone knows otherwise, please let us know. Here are my two examples for my sim. (These are replicas documents, not forged instruments for the record if your the Federal Govt peeking in on this post.) This is how they should be displayed in the pocket, the Standard Airworthiness is displayed on top of the Certificate of Aircraft registration. This way at a glance you can see that both documents are present. If you would like to make your own, I have a couple blank templates uploaded to this thread. Now for the fun part, lucky us, Shane actually has the real certificate pocket in hand and took several measurements of it for me. This is one of those measurement. I compiled all this measurements and put them into a dxf drawing. Later I will post this up in the resources page with all the other drawings, but for now, I have the dxf drawing included in this thread in case you want to make your own sooner than later. It's going to be included in with the Interior Trim Panels drawing which is not yet complete. Now I didn't take a lot of photos of how I built it but I will say this, it's not as easy as you might think at first glance. The main body is made up of three pieces stacked on top of one another, with alignment pins and superglue. This was the only way I could make the lens tabs and the deep pocket using a cnc machine. This might be a much easier project using a 3D printer for you guys that have one and a rear bulkhead to hang this thing on! The two finger grooves to the left were added with a Drimel tool and a steady hand. Then lots of sanding to give all the edges as much curve as I could stand sanding by hand. The edges are not as curved as the original, but enough to make it look like a finished piece. And here it is mounted to the rear bulkhead. It's hard to see, but there is a 1/16th inch piece of clear cast plastic snapped into the grooves holding the documents in place. (Right click and open the photo up in a second window to blow it up to full size) And that's it, another small but important detail included in the sim. I don't think I will be making these available because of the way I made this one. It's a real PITA and should not be made with a cnc machine. I believe a 3D printer is the way to go with this part if several need to be made. If you have any questions or need help making one for yourself, let me know and I will help anyway I can! Nice addition to the flightdeck Ron! I think the small details really sell the idea to the user of being in an actual aircraft versus a sim. Nice addition to the flightdeck Ron!
