Jet45 License and Protection Discussion

(Original thread started on 08-08-11 by Eric Williams)

When copying the installer to my newest PC I am fairly certain I may have run the .exe from an existing directory. This appears to have kicked off some form of copy protection. Please provide me a method to repair as I have tried installing 8 times with no luck on this PC.

I do not want to start over with this PC. Thanks in advance.

I found this warning:

One important note, please DO NOT copy the unzipped folders and executables from one PC to another, this may corrupt the licensing process and lead to undesirable results. Instead, use the installer on each PC with the license key given to you. This will ensure a smooth install on all of your PCs.

I also found this:

Since the software is hardware dependent, you will need to send me the registration keys for each of the components for UP TO 3 PCs. Changes in PC hardware will require a new license once the original license has been issued.

Yes, that is why I worded the post above. Once I did the multiple retries, I reverted to the manual and found the text you posted. What I would like, is a method to reverse the copy-protect trigger (i.e what registry entry to edit) I would rather not reformat this PC due to single double click on my massive library of files.

I could do a lot of digging, or I could get the easy fix here. I would rather the latter. This software is already difficult enough (requiring editing of multiple .cfg files on multiple PCs) This would seem inevitable. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Don't reformat or anything crazy like that. I left some old wording in the manual from the original license key process. Jason is getting new keys to fix this for you.

Just FYI- not sure I need another key- just maybe undo whatever is written to this PC. The installer still works fine, just the .exe (s) are non-functional when run

Edit: Tried rolling back PC- no Joy. I intermittently get the error that the activation limit has been reached. Something to keep in mind too- we re-work PCs a lot in this hobby. Many activations may be necessary- just a thought.

Try sending a request over to Flight1 like Jason directed as this is part of the software protection policy. We all have to re work PCs from time to time and there is a limit of 10, which is generous, before having to request a new key. Thankfully Flight1's support has always been instantaneous and should hopefully fix your issue.

New key validated etc and I still get "The application failed to start because the configuration is incorrect" This happens for all modules. No joy.

Flight1 re-validated my key (so the email says) and I tried again. No joy.

However, after reinstall again, I don't get any message about validation etc, only the config error when trying to run any of the .exe files.

1. When I ran the .exe from my other PCs it did something to the registry or windows etc as a copy protect

2. There is something wrong with the PC/XP install (more likely)

After many hours of seeing this error and finding nothing wrong with the PC it got the boot from CD and format C: It felt good to kick it in the rear...

UPDATE:

Re-format solved the problem. No clue what the root cause was, but it works fine now. You can delete this thread if you like as it clearly had nothing to do with the software or license process. Just glad it works now as this should be the last PC running Jet45. Thanks for the advice.
