Jet45 Flightplan Paths and .ini File Issues

(Original thread started on 05-19-10 by Douglas D.)

While I have had Jet45 for a while now I have never got the flightplan to show in the navigation display. I thought this might be possibly due to me not getting the file path correct in the .ini file. As an experiment I tried creating a plan folder on the same client that I run Jet45 on and pointing the plan path to that. As soon as I tried this I was able to display the flightplan on the navigation display!

I did notice that FSX plans had a display issue (lots of ((L(()D)))Y)) where the name should be) but the sim routes plans work fine. I will try this for a while and report if there are any problems.

The issue with the character display is due to lower case letters in the name. Jet45 uses all uppercase letters (no lower case letters in the font), please try with a plan name that is all uppercase.

I had another look at this and as soon as I changed the plan names to uppercase this fixed the text display problem. Thanks Jason!

I also had another go at the plan path on the Main PC but still cannot get that to work. The main FSX plan file is in the default location and I set the .ini file as follows

[X_SIZE,Y_SIZE]

630,880

[X_POSITION,Y_POSISTION]

624,69

[FRAMELESS_WINDOW(0-1)]

0

[DISPLAY_BEZEL(0-1)]

[I_AM_DU2(0-1)]

[PLAN_PATH]

"\\Fsserver\Documents and Settings\Douglas\My Documents\Flight Simuator X Files"

[PATH_TO_DU2]

"c:\mydocuments\jet45_v2\Jet45 Advanced Avionics Suite v1.0.0.2\DU2\Jet45_MFD"

[PATH_TO_DU3]

"c:\mydocuments\jet45_v2\Jet45 Advanced Avionics Suite v1.0.0.2\DU3\Jet45_MFD"

This is the setup on the main PC, both client and server have service pack 3 on them:

Okay, so here's what I'm doing on a dedicated client for DU3 and DU4 (Copilot Side Client):

Look at:

C:\Documents and Settings\Tomlin\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files

OR...

C:\Documents and Settings\Tomlin\My Documents\Flight Simulator X Files

...and make sure these are set to sharing.

My MFD .ini file:

[X_SIZE,Y_SIZE]

535,748

[X_POSITION,Y_POSITION]

-37,44

[FRAMELESS_WINDOW(0-1)]

0

[DISPLAY_BEZEL(0-1)]

[I_AM_DU2(0-1)]

[PLAN_PATH]

"\\Fsserver\fsplans"

[PATH_TO_DU2]

"\\CAPTAIN\Software DLs\Hite Primus\P1000 DUs\CaptainSide"

[PATH_TO_DU3]

"C:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop\P1000\P1000 DUs\FOSide"

NOTE: "fsplans" is the sharing name that I gave and I suspect that since yours has spaces it may be the reason for your issue.

1) Can you try renaming your sharing name to something [b]without spaces[/b]?

2) Note that FSserver is the name of my PC running FS9 and FSX (My Computer/System Information/Computer Name [tab)/Full Computer Name: fsserver

Success!

After much frustration and trying I have finally worked out where I was going wrong. Having given the folder the shared name of " fsplans" I thought that just replaced the name of the folder (Flight Simulator X Files)

What I had was:

[PLAN_PATH]

"\\Fsserver\Documents and Settings\Douglas\My Documents\fsplans"

When it should have been just:

[PLAN_PATH]

"\\Fsserver\fsplans

With you help and my determination (even with a lack of computer know how) we will get there. Thanks for taking the time to help!

I am unable to load a flight plan on my Jet45 MFD with Prepar3D V4.. I am using a host PC "POWERSPEC" (WIDOWS 10) and a WINDOWS 10 PC for a client (XPS8900).

My MFD [PLAN_PATH] on the client PC is "\\Powerspec\Users\Powerspec\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Files". The User and Document files have been shared.

There is a flight plan in the Prepar3D v4 Files on the host PC " IFR Teterboro to Westchester Co.pln".

The PFD and EICAS appear to be working OK.  Your assistance is appreciated.

The "paths" have to be set up perfectly or you WILL have issues. Let me see if I can find some more information for you. I see you are using a Windows10 machine. How is that working out for you so far?

Also, you are using Prepar3D v4. You are one of the first, any adverse issues there that you can see? One last question. Are you using the Flightdecksoft UNS1 FMS software? We will help get you up and running!

The path I used is copied from my host PC through my network so it should be correct. My PFD and EICAS are displaying the correct values so they are receiving data from Prepar3D V4 on my host PC.

NOTE: I experienced the same issue with the flight plan path with Prepar3D V3 which I installed and uninstalled yesterday. I normally use X-Plane 11, however it is very limited for corporate jets.

For Prepar3D I had to purchase FSUIPC5. The latest version of WideClient works with FSUIPC5. My Saitek Panels do not work with Prepar3D V4. Saitek has not published the drivers. In fact their driver download page is off the air. Also, SPAD doesn't work with Prepar3D V4.

If I can get my Jet45 suite to work, I would like to purchase the Flightdecksoft UNS1 FMS. How is the UNS1 FMS working out? Does it have WAAS? I am a rated Lear 45 pilot and have access to a Level D Simulator. I would like to have a workable Lear 45 setup at home.

If you would try this and see if it will work. Change your plan path from what you currently have:

"\\Powerspec\Users\Powerspec\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Files" To this:

"\\Powerspec\Prepar3D v4 Files" and see if that helps.

Also glad to see JET45 is working with P3Dv4. I thought it would but nice to have it verified. I have not switched over yet. I am confident we can get the plan path working. It seems to be very picky about how the path name is entered as I have had trouble with this on several occasions but always able to work thru it with some experimenting with path name.

Great having a real world Lear pilot with us, that is a great wealth of information to have!

Hey Charlie, one other quick thought that I am sure you have done but it is part of the trouble shooting process, have you downloaded the latest version of .NET Framework

So glad to hear that you are a real world Lear45 pilot. So many times we have needed that real world pilot's insight while trying to get things as close to authentic as possible. You could be a huge asset to the club!

Hi Charlie, I have felt your pain. I had literally spent months previously trying to get the Flight Plans to show up in the MFD after trying every combination I could think of. I was lucky enough to have a more knowledgeable member, who was already a Windows expert, and he changed the syntax and voila....it just worked. The advice that Shane gave you was in essence what got mine going.

As frustrating as it was I had to tell myself that it was a Windows (7 in my case) cause. When you delve into 'permissions' it can be a total minefield. Hope it is sorted by now.

My Powerspec PC died so I returned it and I am hooking up a new PC. It will take me awhile to redo my setup. I will be back shortly.
