JET45 demo shutting down

Greetings -

I have been talking with Jason and Ron regarding a problem with the PFD and MFD shutting down (becoming unresponsive).  I can start one program (e.g. PFD) and it will work fine but as soon as I open the MFD, the PFD becomes unresponsive and must be shut down.  And vice versa.

I have attached a pdf of the client machine structure and ini files.  I would surely appreciate if someone would take a look.  Thanks.

Hi Bruce, welcome to the Hangar!

First off I see you tried to post some photos.  Unfortunately we can not cut and paste photos into the body of the text.  Most forums are getting away from that for security reasons.

There are two ways to post photos....

First, if you have a Image Shack account or Google Photo account, you can use the image icon on the top right that is visible when the "Edit Post" screen is open.

Second, you can use the "Upload Files" button down below this area.  This option will allow Hangar45 to store your photos.

Once we can see what your posting, we will be able to get you on track.  The solution is there, we just need to help find it for you!

Hi Ron -

I did try to paste a copied piece but realized it would not work and that is why I attached the pdf.  Is the pdf not  available from my post?

Thanks.

Bruce

Hey Bruce,

Sorry, yes it is there.   I will tap the shoulders of a few guys to make them aware of this thread so we can all help you get up to speed.  Hang in there!

Keep us posted on what you have tried and post it here so we can help trouble shoot the problem with you.

Hey Bruce,

I'm sorry to hear about your issue with the Jet45 Demo.  I never used the demo version of the software, I dished out the money and purchased the licensed copy, which has been working perfectly for me.  However, I did have an issue with positioning and sizing the components.  I'm running my Avionics suite on a high end gaming PC, and flight Sim Steam Edition on a Dell Optiplex, Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0 GHz 4GB Memory/160GB HDD, Windows 10 Professional.  I have wide client running on the gaming PC, and FSUIPC running on the Dell computer(FSX Simulator).  I'm not sure what the bare minimum is to run the suite, but i figure the more powerful the server is, the better the program will work.  I would try to remove any device hardware, drivers that do not pertain to any of the Jet45 software.  I hope this helps!

Thanks Bryant.

I tried running it last night on the flight sim computer (not the networked one I was on) with no improvement.  I disconnected all Go Flight hardware.  I've tried a clean boot, reduced services boot, etc.  Maybe I'll install FSX this weekend (currently using P3Dv4) and see if that makes a diff.  I really want this software but I'm shy to purchase if I can't get the demo working.  It's just got to be something small and hard to find.

Bruce

Hey Bruce,

I didn't know you were using p3d4.  I too was using it, but never was able to get it to work with the same computer running Jet45.  Your best bet is to run those too high powered apps on separate computers.  Also the computer running Jet45 suite, has 2 GeForce 640 graphics cards.  This was once my gaming computer.

Hi Bruce,

Wow, you seem to have a problem that to my knowledge no-one else has had. Because Jet45 has worked for the majority of us then it seems logical that the problems you are experiencing are unique to you.

There are alot of variables to consider here so we need to work through them to find a solution. Things to consider are as follows.

1/ Redownload the demo and reinstall just in case the original downloaded file  had download errors.

2/ The files once downloaded and installed, will open up and be displayed even if FSX/P3d is not running. If you can't get that far things are certainly awry. They will just not show flight data.

3/ From memory the manual advises that Jet 45 should be installed on network computers, which you have done if I read correctly.

4/ You need to copy the PFD and MFD folders and rename the copies to something like PFD2 and EICAS. You then need to have each folder with it's unique ini file showing each folders JET45 screen parameters including the designation of for example (PFD1=0,PFD2=1). Your pdf does not show the second PFD2 folder.

5/ Can you open up PFD1 and PFD2 ? Or alternatively EICAS and MFD without crashing ? How many monitors are you using ? Can you split the programs to different monitors at the same time ?

6/ Which windows version are you using ? I have 2/3 on win7 and the remaining third on Win10.

You may have answered most of this to Jason and Ron so sorry if you need to repeat but get this information and we'll go from there.

I have a hard head but I’m also relentless and sometimes just dumb lucky.  I was looking into things again this morning with no success; one program would start and the other shut down - same behavior.   Then, after days of fiddling, I got a Windows pop up about compatibility.  So I set all programs (right click on the .exe file and select the compatibility tab) to Windows 7 compatibility and the problems disappeared.  Instantly.  Dumb lucky.

Then Jason sent me an email saying he had replicated the same problem on a new box, that it had to do with network delay and that he was going to debug it.

Now I’m a super happy person today with my new licensed copy of Jet45.  Thanks for the support and suggestions, I knew there had to be a simple resolution.  Just the same, moral support is priceless.  This is the type of program that is a gift to the community.

That's awesome Bruce. I've stashed that solution away in my knowledge base. It's usually those 'left field' solutions that are the key.

Now that you are up and running you are one of us !

Cheers
